Lehigh Celebrates Read Across AmericaUse SHIFT+ENTER to open the menu (new window).
"Oh, the Places You'll Go!" How about Barnes & Noble? On Friday, March 2nd, Lehigh School culminated its week-long celebration of Dr. Seuss' Birthday with its annual Read Across America Night at Barnes & Noble. The event aims to commemorate Dr. Seuss in the way he would want...with books, reading, and family interaction! Over 200 staff, students, and parents attended the event. Guest readers included Lehigh office staff and teachers, officers from the Montclair Fire and Police Departments, Board of Trustee Kris Brake, and even a special appearance by the "Cat in the Hat." During the two-hour event, Lehigh helped Barnes and Noble bring in over $500 in purchases. The successful and engaging event helped bring a climatic closure to week of wacky wardrobe, silly socks, pajamas, crazy hats, and red bow ties!

Lehigh Students are Treated with a Trip to "Who-ville"Use SHIFT+ENTER to open the menu (new window).
"Why be a Grinch, when it's such a cinch" to be on time and present at school for 20 days? That's the question that Lehigh students were asking themselves. The answer...it is a cinch! Right before the holiday break, it's easy to take a few extra days to get a head start on vacation. In order to decrease the "pre-vacation" absences, all students who arrived on time and attended the 20 days before the break were rewarded with a Who-ville Celebration that included a craft and watching the movie, "How The Grinch Stole Christmas." In addition, there was a surprise visit from the Grinch, who was more than happy to celebrate and congratulate the 531 students who met the goal! Lehigh students learned a valuable lesson: when you set a goal, and work towards it, good things happen!

Kid Care International Gives Back to Lehigh and Montera FamiliesUse SHIFT+ENTER to open the menu (new window).
Nothing says "the holidays" more than "giving!" Each year, before the winter holidays, KidCare International provides snacks, songs, and backpacks full of gifts for students and families in need from Lehigh and Montera Elementary. This past December was not different. On Thursday, December 8th, about 50 Lehigh and Montera families convened at Lehigh's Who-ville to participate in the special event. KidCare, established in 1991,  currently supports humanitarian projects in Southern California, Russia, Tanzania, Sri Lanka and South Africa through championing volunteerism and cultivating both public and private partnerships. Our students are fortunate recipients of KidCare's generosity, caring, and commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of children. Students and parents were grateful for the event and had a joyous time!
