Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Pasta for Pennies Fundraiser
The generous students and families of Howard School have once again donated an amazing amount of money to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society!!! We can rest assured that our efforts will definitely help to save the lives of children living in our community inflicted with blood cancers. Special thanks goes to the 6 th grade Student Leaders for introducing the program in the classrooms, collecting the donations each week and generating enthusiasm for the program. Mrs. McPherson’s third graders in Room 27 brought in a record amount of $512.56, followed closely by Mr. Parga’s sixth graders with $424.98, and rounding out the top three was Mrs. Sanchez’ sixth grade class with $379.02. Room 27 will receive an Olive Garden spaghetti lunch for their 1st place effort. Congratulations to everyone in the Howard family for this outstanding effort and for giving so generously! |

Howard students and their parents celebrated their success on the recent California Standards Test (CST). This year 245 kids qualified to attend a special spaghetti dinner because they scored proficient or advanced on either the English Language Arts or Math section of the CST. The event was the first special event to be held in the school’s new Multi-Purpose Room. The teachers and staff served the children and their parents spaghetti, bread, salad and cookies. It was an overwhelming success and everyone had a great time honoring these smart kids! |

Free Breakfast for Every Child
It is with great pleasure that we announce that this school year all students are eligible to receive breakfast on school days for FREE! There is no application process necessary to receive free breakfast. However, in order to receive free or reduced priced lunches, applications must be submitted. We are excited about ensuring that all Howard’s students eat before going to class to concentrate on learning!
Free-Reduced Lunch: Students must apply for free or reduced priced lunches this month, even if they qualified last year. It typically takes 10 days for approval for new applicants. Applications are available online. LUNCH MONEY If you are sending lunch money with your child, please make sure it is in a sealed envelope clearly marked with your child’s first and last name and their lunch number. Remind students to drop the envelope in the cafeteria in the morning when they arrive at school. |
