The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) HealthierUS School Challenge is a voluntary initiative established in 2004 to recognize schools participating in the National School Lunch Program who have created healthier school environments through promotion of nutrition and physical activity.

On August 25th, in an auditorium full of school leaders, community members, students and parents, Euclid Elementary School was presented with the GOLD SCHOOL award and Buena Vista Arts-integrated, Haynes Elementary, Montera Elementary, and Monte Vista Elementary proudly accepted the SILVER SCHOOL award.

Thanks to the leadership within OMSD’s Food & Nutrition Services Department, school sites and support staff, these schools have been placed in the upper 5% of all schools nationally when it comes to providing nutritional meals and promoting unique lifelong habits for students and families.  Congratulations!
