Elderberry Elementary School’s fifth grade student, Dylan Ventura, took on the MathCON challenge and qualified to compete at the National MathCON competition in Chicago.  He will be traveling there with his father and an Elderberry staff member in April 2017.

MathCON is a national online math competition for students in grades 5-12 with grade-level specific, timed tests of 45 multiple-choice questions. Students throughout the United States from all types of schools, including home-schooled students, can take the test at their own schools under the supervision of their own teachers.  Out of 49,685 students nationwide, only the top 576 students in 5th thru 12th grade move on to the next level. Dylan is ranked in the top 12 percentile of all the competitors nationwide!

MathCON is only one of the many Ontario-Montclair School District’s sponsored extra-curricular, academic events for students.  Events such as MathCON not only showcase our students’ learning achievements, but provide an opportunity for students to utilize their talents, strengths and leadership skills.

 Good luck Dylan!
