Monte Vista Students See STARs
On Thursday January 26th Monte Vista Elementary School hosted their 2nd Annual Dinner with the STARS event. This event honors those students who achieved a score of proficient or advanced on both their Language Arts CST and their Mathematics CST. Serrano AVID Students Visit UC Irvine
Serrano Middle School AVID students visited the University of California, Irvine on January 17th, 2012. Students were given a tour of the campus where they discovered that the school is home to three Nobel Laureates, has the Jack Langson Library which houses the largest library collection in Orange County, and currently has about 28,000 students in attendance. Star Gazing Explorers Invade Vineyard STEM Magnet School
Star gazing families swarmed to Vineyard’s STEM Magnet School on Friday, January 27th in search of science related activities and a night filled with fun. The evening kicked off with the school’s Science Fair where hundreds of student projects were displayed and winning projects were awarded medals, ribbons, and a spot in the upcoming district Science Fair. Oaks Students Visit USC
On Saturday, January 21, 2012, AVID, ASB and After School Sports students from Oaks Middle School took part in an educational and extracurricular fieldtrip to the University of Southern California. Their field trip included a self-guided tour of the campus and a women's basketball game. The Lady Trojans lost to the Oregon State Beavers in over-time. Read more...

Vina Danks Participates in Warm Coat Drive
Vina Danks Keystone College Prep Academy students have been very busy collecting coats as part of the One Warm Coat community service project. Our students collected 416 coats which will be donated to Operation New Hope and then distributed, free of charge, to our local community. Read more...
Vineyard STEM School Students Tackle Real-World Problems At Math Day
It’s not every day that a nuclear scientist, a flood control engineer, a recycling entrepreneur and an environmental engineer are teaching to middle-school students, but that was the case on Jan. 30 at Vineyard STEM School in Ontario. “I use math every single day with pretty much everything I do,” said J.D. Hawthorne School Plans to “Slam Dunk the STAR!”
The cheers could be heard from miles away because Hawthorne School got an early start in kicking off this year’s theme, “Slam Dunk the STAR”. This special event was made possible with the help from the Cal-Poly Pomona Champion Women’s Basketball Team. On Monday, January 30th, 20 Cal-Poly Pomona women athletes kicked off Hawthorne’s Spirit Assembly by demonstrating excellence on the courts as well as sharing their personal messages about commitment and hard work in the classroom. Montclair Boy Scout Helps His Elementary School with a New Flag
Last month former Howard student Kevin Neuer visited Howard School and asked Mrs. Lipschultz if he could get Howard a new US flag. She was delighted at the offer and said yes. Kevin, a sophomore at Montclair High School and a Boy Scout, has a love for his country and demonstrated his patriotism in an amazing way by collecting cans and bottles to raise the money needed to purchase a beautiful 5' x 8' flag for his former elementary school. Vista Grande Students Compete in School-Wide Spelling Bee
“stratosphere…s-t-r-a-t-o-s-p-h-e-r-e…stratosphere” sighed Nicholas Sin as he spelled the final winning word in Vista Grande’s 3rd Annual Spelling Bee held at Oaks Middle School. On January 19th, 26 Vista Grande Elementary School students, grades 2-6, competed in the Spelling Bee. Arroyo Recognizes Math Wizards
At Arroyo Elementary School, teachers Ms. DeBellis and Ms. Wiekamp honored six of their Math Wizard students with a special lunch. The brilliant bunch demonstrated their knowledge of Math by passing their quizzes at the end of each lesson. Wiltsey’s Holiday Concert (featuring Del Norte and Mariposa)
Right before the winter break, the music students at Ray Wiltsey Middle School were busy putting together their final holiday show, and quite a production it was!! The idea was to have a concert where everyone was a performer where nobody was left as just an audience member. Uper-grade students from Del Norte and Mariposa came over to Wiltsey carrying their musical instruments, song flutes, and lyrics to participate in a massive musical production. Read more...

OMSD Students and their Families Skate for Fitness
On the night of December 15th students from the schools of Ramona, Vista Grande, Howard, Arroyo and Vineyard participated in the 2nd Annual Family Fitness Skate Night at Skate Express in Chino. This fun-filled event organized by the PE team servicing those sites (Mr. Rothwell, Mrs. Phillips, Mr Richard, Mrs. Gundlach, and Ms. Jennifer) brought together students and their families for a night of physical activity outside of the normal P.E. setting.
